Lifting the veil: societyââ¬â¢s self-perception in Rabindranath Tagoreââ¬â¢s short stories. For this, as everybody knows, it is greatly indebted to our senses and our mind. This apparent world is man`s world. It has taken its special features of shape, colour and movement from the peculiar range and qualities of our perception. It describes essential qualities that constitute a person s uniqueness or essential being. It can be considered the basic nature of a person which endures that ââ¬Ëbeingââ¬â¢ which is the source of consciousness for an individual s thoughts and actions, and unifies ââ¬Ëconsciousnessââ¬â¢ over time. It plays an integral part in human motivation, cognition, affect, and social identity and constantly evolves due to the complexities of cultures and societies. It is dependent on the culture that the ââ¬Ëselfââ¬â¢ has been situated in.ââ¬Å"It can be redefined as a dynamic, responsive process that structures neural pathways according to past and present environments including material, social, and spiritual aspectsâ⬠(Meadââ¬â¢s ââ¬ËSelf, Culture, Society Classââ¬â¢, 2015). P- It is shaped by our social interactions and our physical environments. An individual s social interactions occur when theyââ¬â¢re in a specific society or culture.
